2015-16 EA Wrestling Season Recap

The 2015-2016 season was a transition year for our wrestling team. EA wrestled a challenging schedule, mixing dual meet tournaments to gain mat experience for the young team members along with opportunities to reach individual accomplishments for the benefit of the few experienced wrestlers. Notable accomplishments include 1st place medals for Blair Orr and Dallas Taylor at both the Radnor Invitational and the Delaware County Christian Invitational. Kosta Maritsis also placed 1st at the DCI and Alex Bendinelli took 2nd at the Radnor Invitational. Dallas Taylor won Gold at the CHA Invitational, where Kosta Maritsis placed 2nd and Blair Orr placed 3rd. Finally, Blair Orr and Dallas Taylor took home silver and bronze medals at the prestigious Prep Slam in Atlanta, GA.

Senior captains Kosta Maritsis and Jonathon Lewis ended varsity careers that spanned all four Upper School years. Fellow senior Charlie Malone also completed his wrestling career. Each senior made contributions to the team’s successes and their leadership kept the work rate and attitude positive throughout the entire year.

The young team improved all year and can boast seven wrestlers with double digit wins, including five underclassmen, to build on for next year. Highlights from the season include 30 plus wins for sophomore Blair Orr and junior Dallas Taylor and 22 for sophomore Sam Stickley. Orr and Taylor placed 4th and 6th respectively at the PAISWT. The future is bright for EA wrestling!
